Liriola Pitti was the CEO of the Panama Tourism Board (IPAT) team from 1999 to September 2004, providing effective marketing and management services, successfully positioning the Republic of Panama in the international tourism market as a new high quality tourism destination.
Mrs. Pitti has planned and executed development strategies in all aspects of this project, been responsible for global business strategy development, including assessment of core capabilities, identification of market opportunities, business plan development and assessment and execution of joint venture opportunities in the tourism sector locally and internationally.
As CEO of the Panama Tourism Board, she positioned IPAT successfully in the development of all aspects of tourism, placing Panama as One of the Top Retirement Destinations in the World and at the forefront in terms of generation of income and visitors. Leadership responsibility for US$30mm investment in international marketing, promotion and public relations programs for Panama, with outstanding 40% growth in the number of visitor and 44% growth in income increase.
Liriola Pitti has extensive experience with negotiations, among others, in 2002 of the negotiation and signing with The Trump Organization of the “2003 Miss Universe” Pageant held in Panama. She has lead responsibility for the negotiation and accomplishment of direct charter and commercial flights between Europe and Panama (2000-2004).
In June 2001, she was appointed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Panama as “Plenipotentiary and Extraordinary Ambassador for the Promotion of Tourism”.
She has served as a member of the Board of Directors of the US-Panama Business Council, promoting business development, hotels and resorts, and investment activities between the United States of America and Panama. She is also a member of the Board of Directors of the Panama Viejo Foundation, declared in 2003 by UNESCO as World Heritage Site. She also acts as a member of the Board of Directors of the Amador Foundation, noteworthy project designed by renowned Architect Frank Gehry to hold the Biodiversity Museum “Panama Bridge of Life”.
