The Tourism Authority of Panama (ATP) signed, in the middle of its participation in the Future of Tourism World Summit, an agreement with the Secretary General of the World Tourism Organization (UN agency), Zurab Pololikashvili, to launch the Contest for Innovation in Transforming Tourism Products for the Empowerment of Communities.

The ATP administrator, Iván Eskildsen, details that the contest is focused on stimulating tourism products oriented towards the conscious traveler, "a segment that generates higher spending in destinations and a longer stay, estimated at 500 million travelers."

"We relaunch tourism with bold ideas. Very happy to strengthen the collaboration with the Tourism Authority of Panama. Together we will launch a contest to support the most innovative tourism products to transform our sector and make it more sustainable," said Secretary Pololikashvili, after the signature of the agreement.

For its part, Eskildsen considers that the contest "contributes to expressing our vision of tourism, contributing to the empowerment of the Colmena Plan communities, the regeneration of ecosystems and local cultures. It implements our tourism model that was highlighted at the Future of World Summit. Tourism ".

It should be noted that this October 28 concluded the world summit in which the international tourism sector, meeting this week in Barcelona, has signed the manifesto "Barcelona Call-to-Action for the Future of Tourism", which will be one of the tools to face the future after COVID-19. The document proposes a set of actions with a focus on people, the planet and prosperity and part of the need to advance as an economic activity towards a new, more innovative, ethical and sustainable tourism model.
